Ideal Self

In-congruent and Congruent

The words in-congruent and congruent reflect how similar a person's ideal-self and self-image can be in real life.
First, what is ideal-self ? Well, ideal-self is how you want yourself to be , on the other hand, self-image is how you are in real life.

Just like the figure above, the more the two of them overlap, the more congruent they are, and the more ideal of you wanted yourself to be.

What's the benefits of this congruent thingy in life? It helps you to be more like you wanted yourself to be and build your self-esteem. A person with higher self-esteem tends to have more overlap between his/her ideal-self and self-image. Having high self-esteem leads you to be more confident in life, ready to bounce back up whenever you fall, cheerful, optimistic and appreciate life better.

Researcher Carl Rogers stated that a self-concept consists of:

(i) The view you have of yourself (Self-image)
(ii) How much value you place on yourself (Self-esteem or Self-worth)
(iii) What you wish you were really like (Ideal-self)

Stop wasting time having emotional thoughts, blaming time and others.

Be brave and decide what you wanna be.
Buy some nice cloths
Follow your dreams

Build yourself
Learn some talent
